Kosmar - Cheap Holidays to Greece and Turkey

Aegean Coast

Aegean Coast
Between mainland Greece and Turkey, the sparkling expanse of the Aegean Sea is sprinkled with a thousand sunlit islands. Turkey's Aegean coastline is an endless succession of inlets and bays, from tiny coves with beaches of golden sand or white pebbles, to rugged pine-covered peninsulas, and fjords of the deepest blue, encircled by mountains.
Thanks to the astonishing colour of the inshore waters, the stretch from Bodrum down to Marmaris is known as the "Turquoise Coast". Traditional wooden 'gulets' ply the famous Blue Voyage route around the Datca peninsula, and all the way south to Fethiye, past sunken cities, hilltop forts and fishing villages. These coastal adventures take in magical landfalls along the way, each with its own story to tell: Cleopatra's Island, and its ruined city of Cedreae; 'English Harbour'; the ancient city of Cnidus on the Gulf of Hisaronu; and the Dalyan River delta nature reserve, a refuge for sea turtles (Caretta Caretta) and blue crabs. The attractive harbour town of Bodrum boasts an imposing Crusader castle and the tomb of King Mausolus, one of the Seven Wonders of the ancient world. It's a lively and sophisticated focal point for a succession of small resorts offering traditional laid-back beach holidays, spread around a compact peninsula. Marmaris itself is a big, bustling and vibrant port in a spectacular setting, with superb shopping, hundreds of restaurants, and the smart modern beach resort of Icmeler a short drive away.
