You will be met at Bourgas Airport and escorted by our local Rep to Sunny Beach. Journey time is approximately 35 to 40 minutes.
Twice the size of Golden Sands, and still growing, Sunny Beach wouldn't look at all out of place on the Spanish Costas. It's a bustling seaside resort on a wide semi-circular bay, beside an endless blue-flag beach of sand and shingle, with safe swimming and the full range of watersports, including surfing, sailing, water skis and parachutes, hang-gliding and banana rides.
There are more than 100 hotels here, nestling between the dunes overlooking the clear warm sea, or among the trees of the coastal plain. The resort also boasts over 100 bars, restaurants, and nightclubs offering everything from cabaret evenings and folklore shows to discos, and in the summer hosts the Golden Orpheus International Festival of Bulgarian popular music and symphony concerts. Sporting activities on offer include tennis courts, beach volleyball, bowling, minigolf and horse riding.
The resort's 'mini-train' bus service is the cheapest and most convenient way to get around, trundling up and down the main strip past the mile-long pedestrianised promenade, and the central street where most of the shops are to be found.
Scattered throughout the resort there are plenty of mini-markets, tourist shops and stalls selling local crafts and souvenirs.
Regular local buses run to the nearest large town of Bourgas, a busy working trawler port, and to the region's greatest tourist attraction, the medieval village and beach resort of Nessebar (ancient Mesembria), just south of Sunny Beach. Dramatically located on a tiny island linked to the mainland by a slender causeway, it's famous for its ruined Byzantine churches, stunning murals, and quaint old wooden houses with balconies overhanging the narrow cobbled streets. Don't forget the camera!
