Kos
Like Rhodes, its close neighbour, the friendly little holiday island of Kos has a busy main town, with a Crusader castle and lively night-life, some fine beach resorts around the coastline, a mountain range providing a dramatic backdrop to the green and fertile interior, and an international airport for easy access.
The island was home to Hippocrates, the so-called 'father of modern medicine', who taught at the Asklepion, a medical sanctuary a couple of miles southwest of Kos Town which is now the island’s most famous ancient site. With good beaches, nightlife, classical remains, and island-hopping day-trips on offer, it’s impossible not to relax and enjoy your holiday here!
