The best known resort on Kos is lively Kardamena, which spreads along the island's eastern coastline beside a long narrow ribbon of silvery sand, about forty minutes drive south of Kos Town. The lovely beach, shelving gently into warm, clear waters, offers excellent safe swimming. It's covered with umbrellas near the resort centre, where you'll find plenty of watersports, and it becomes less crowded as you head off in either direction. 

The original village square and small fishing harbour are still at the heart of the resort, but they're now surrounded by scores of tavernas, bars and tourist shops catering for the happy crowd who come here looking for fun in the sun. There's a buzzing nightlife in the numerous friendly music bars and lively discos, and it's easy to see why everybody loves Kardamena.
