Our newest resort on green and lovely Lefkas is the fishing port of Lygia, a few kilometres south of the island capital, straddling the coast road down to Nidri. A busy fleet of brightly painted boats in the harbour provides fresh fish daily for the island's restaurants - and of course, it's freshest of all in Lygia's own habourside tavernas! The mainland seems almost close enough to touch here, as you enjoy a cool drink and watch the comings and goings, and the views across the strait to the fortress of Aghios Georgios are simply stunning. 

There's a choice of pebble and shingle coves nearby, and great walking country among the cypress and olive groves on the hillsides above the village. Lefkas Town is a short hop in a taxi for a spot of shopping, and a hire car opens up the whole island to you. The west coast's fabulous white beaches are a short drive away, and if you're feeling adventurous, you can head across the causeway to the mainland to explore the unspoilt rural Greece that most tourists never see.
