Searching for Kambos on an island map you may think you're seeing double (or perhaps the mapmaker did, after sampling the fine Samian vintages!) because you'll find two coastal villages with the same, not to mention two fantastic beaches called Psili Ammos. Don't worry - we'll make sure you arrive at the right Kambos, a laid-back little resort with all you need for a quieter beach-based holiday, including an uncrowded two-kilometre ribbon of sand and shingle, also known as Votsalakia. To the west, the barren, towering peak of Mount Kerkis provides a dramatic backdrop to the peaceful scene below. It's said Pythagoras took refuge from his enemies in a cave up here on the mountainside, where his pupils came to study with him, and all around is fine walking territory with spectacular views. Back down at the coast, to the west of Kambos you'll discover the 'other' Psili Ammos, a splendid swathe of silvery sand and shingle shelving gently into clear blue seas, backed by high cliffs. In the opposite direction lies Ormos Marathokambos, a sleepy little harbour overlooked by the traditional mountain village of the same name. If you ever feel the urge to venture further afield you can head off to explore the delights Samos Town and Pythagorion, safe in the knowledge that your relaxing holiday hideaway is waiting to welcome you home at the end of another perfect day.
