The neighbouring resorts of Alikes and Alikanas share a gorgeous long beach of pale sand in the northeast corner of the island overlooking Kefalonia. Alikes has a village centre, with several tavernas, supermarkets and bars, where the road from the beach joins the main coastal road. Alikanas is spread across the fertile coastal plain, with tavernas and shops here and there, and a tiny harbour for fishing boats.
It takes about 15 minutes to stroll from Alikanas to the centre of Alikes, and as usual on Zante, bicycles are popular. Nightlife here is fairly low-key, though a few of the bars can get quite lively, and with Zakynthos Town a twenty-five minute drive away is Alikanas a good choice for relaxing holiday beside a fantastic beach.
