Will our marriage be legally recognised in the UK?

Yes - your marriage is completely legal and recognised in the UK.

How soon do we need to book?

There will be some paperwork involved which can take time to prepare. We require a minimum of 4 weeks notice for Cyprus weddings, 8 weeks for Rhodes and 10 weeks for weddings in Santorini. The more popular wedding venues can get booked up very quickly therefore booking as early as possible is always best. This will also prove helpful if you plan to include a wedding party as flights and accommodation also fill up quickly.

How long does our stay in resort need to be?

We recommend a 14 night holiday as it makes your time away more relaxed. However, a minimum of 7 nights stay are required for Cyprus & Rhodes. For Santorini a 14 night stay is required as clients must be on the island a minimum of 7 nights before the wedding can take place.

What documents are required?

There are some legal formalities attached to marrying abroad although probably less than you would imagine. Please refer to our Documents Required page for a full list of what is currently required.

Who will conduct our wedding ceremony?

Your wedding ceremony will usually be performed by a local registrar or mayor. Religious weddings and blessings in Cyprus will be performed by a reverend, priest or minister. In Cyprus all ceremonies are conducted in English and wherever possible in Greece. A translator will be present throughout if it is not possible.

Do we need to organise witnesses to be present?

You will need two witnesses for your marriage. They can be friends or family - our local wedding coordinators will be happy to assist if this is not possible.

Can friends and family attend our wedding?

Of course. We will be more than happy to cater for any wedding party size.

Can we amend/cancel our wedding once confirmed?

We will always do our best to accommodate any changes you may want to make. For full details of the dates and charges applied to changes and cancellations please see our terms and conditions.

Can we choose any style of wedding outfit?

It is completely up to you to choose the style you want for your wedding clothes. Please bear in mind however that temperature in the Med can get very hot and this should be considered when making decisions about what to wear.

Can you recommend how to transport wedding clothes?

Your wedding outfit should be packed away safely in a hard suitcase/box and put in the hold of the aircraft. It is not possible to take your wedding clothes into the cabin itself. Please discuss this at the time of booking as, depending on the airline, this may need to be pre-booked and charges may apply for excess baggage.

Can we arrange for storage/pressing of outfits in resort?

Yes - Most hotels will have facilities for this type of request and our resort coordinators will be happy to assist with any such queries.

Can we make appointments with hairdresser/beautician?

Yes, many of our hotels have excellent salons and hairdressing facilities. Please speak to your wedding co-ordinator for more information.

Is it possible to arrange just the wedding?

Yes, there will be an additional fee to arrange just the wedding alone however we will be more than happy to make the arrangements for you.

Can you arrange extras i.e. flowers & a photographer?

Of course. Photographers and flowers are included in all of our wedding packages. You are also welcome to add on any extras such as DVDs or extra images from the wedding extras lists provided. 

Can we book separate rooms for the night before the wedding?

We will be more than happy to make any such arrangements where possible, at a supplement for you. 

Can I get married overseas if I have been divorced?

Yes of course – You will just need to provide your divorce certificate proving that you are now single and free to marry.

What name should the bride-to-be travel under?

The bride must travel under the name that appears on her passport for both the outbound and inbound journey.

Where can we stay?

At Kosmar we have a wide range of properties available from apartments to luxury hotels – we will be more than happy to make any arrangements for you and advise you of the best places to stay.

Will we get an official wedding certificate?

The cost of your wedding includes the translation into English of your wedding certificate (1 copy for Cyprus / 2 copies for Greece). Depending on your chosen destination, your certificate may not be ready to take home with you. In which case we will forward it onto you.

What happens after we book?

We will confirm everything to you in writing and start helping you through the process of organising the legal formalities and advise you of what will need to be done over the next few months/weeks.

Will it be possible to arrange group excursions for the wedding party?

We will be more than happy to confirm private outings and trips for your wedding party. Alternatively we can provide you with details of the excursions we offer in resort should just the bride and groom want to take a trip together!

Can Kosmar arrange wedding insurance?

Yes, please ask a co-ordinator for full details of the insurance plans we offer both for holidays and weddings.

Can we request a date/time for our wedding?

Yes, we can request out for your chosen wedding date. This is subject to the availability of your chosen venue and the person who will conduct your ceremony. We will always confirm a wedding date to you prior to departure (and a time for Cyprus weddings). Please bear in mind that any unforeseen circumstances that may occur locally could cause re-scheduling of your dates.
